Smith Optics Snow Goggles 2010

Smith Optics offer some of the best goggles and sunglasses on the market. Their shiz is definitely worth the money. I've never had any issues with my Smiths and their warranty department is super easy to deal with. I had a pair of sunglassess that were sat on and they replaced them. Not saying that this will be the case everytime but they were good to me.

Smith has done a really good job producing goggles to fit a wide range of faces. This is important. Your goggles need to fit your face correctly or your going to be hating it on the hill. Refer to "How to buy Goggles" at the end of this article. For the 2010 Winter season, Smith has some new goggle styles and color options to compliment any shred outfit.

Smith Optics Phenom Snow Goggle

The Phenom is a medium frame goggle that still looks fly on girls. Smith is calling it their "best fitting goggle ever". The Phenom features include the adjustable lens ventilation, which is super easy and convenient, the Carbonic-X lens with TLT optics, an ultra-wide silicone backed strap that is helmet compatible. You can use the interchangable hop up kits with this goggle as well. SRP $140.00

Smith Optics Anthem Women's Snow Goggle

A classic that has been in the line for years is the Anthem. A lot of girls like this goggle because of the smaller frame and continues to be Smith's women's specific goggle. At $120.00, the Anthem comes with the Carbonic-X lens with TLT Optics but can be bought with either a platinum or sensor mirror lens. This goggle is also helmet compatible.

Smith Optics Transit Graphic Snow Goggle

The Transit is a great goggle for girls with tiny faces or kids. It's a smaller frame at a great price point. For $70.00 you can't find a better goggle. The Transit comes with basic features but will still keep the fog away with the dual lens with airflow ventilation. Helmet compatible.

Tips to avoid the FOG:

WEARING YOUR GOGGLES ON YOUR FOREHEAD WILL CAUSE THEM TO FOG. Your head is a like a smokestack of a stream train, 30% of your body's heat goes through the top of the head. Placing your goggles on your forehead will trap the moisture causing your goggles to fog.

WIPING GOGGLES OF EXCESS SNOW IN THEM WILL INCREASE FOGGING. Smearing the snow and ice from your last wipe-out around the inside of your lens will only result increased fogging and more frustration. Then use a Smith Snow Eraser or soft cloth to mop up the majority of the moisture. Ideally, you'll want to find a restroom automatic hand dryer to fully dry the inner and outer lenses.

-DON'T WEAR YOUR GOGGLES WHEN HIKING.

-PLACING YOUR GOGGLES IN AN INTERIOR POCKET WILL INCREASE THE CHANCES OF FOGGING. AS AN ALTERNATIVE, STORE YOUR GOGGLES IN AN EXTERIOR POCKET.

-TRY NOT TO OVERHEAT IN THE LIFTLINE.

How to BUY Goggles!?!

Finding a perfect pair of goggles can be a bitch. Here is are 2 important tips to help you through your hell. Remember, fit and function should always come first over fashion. Unless you don't actually ride and spend most of your time in the lodge.

1. Take the time to try on different models to find the most comfortable pair that forms a complete seal around the face. Make sure your new goggles form a tight seal on your face.

2. Try goggles on as if you were on the slopes. Which means, bring your helmet and/or beanie with you when you try on new goggles. You'll want to make sure your goggles fit properly with what you actually wear. Avoid the gaper gap!!
