![]() What responsibility are the Snowboard companies taking for their riders?? There are a lot of kids out there hucking themselves around for free gear and a little money. The companies suck what they can from their riders and cut 'em loose when they're done. The most recent accident happened to Cody Rosenthal at Super Park 13 in Mammoth, Ca. Super Park means just that, a SUPER Park. Big hits amped on steriods.
Cody Rosenthal broke his L3 vertebrae on day two of Super Park 13. He was flown out of Mammoth Lakes Hospital to Renown Hospital in Reno. His surgery took place May 10, 2009. Like most talented snowboarders in this industry, Cody does not have Health Insurance.
There have been fundraisers and a facebook page to help raise money to help with the insane medical bills but where are his sponsors? They're providing gear for raffles at fundraisers. Great, thanks for the support. I think it sucks that Cody and his family have to deal with the extra stress of money durring this time. What would it take for these companies to make sure their riders are insured? Just like any other job, they should be offereing bennefits to these kids. You don't see Basketball players and Football players uninsured. WTF?
I do also understand that Health Insurance is a personal responsibility, however, when you are not insured under a company it can be extremely costly. I just feel that snowboard companies need to start looking out for their riders.
If you would like to support him and his family financially during this very difficult time, any donations are deeply appreciated. Just follow the link below to donate.
