Kick off the winter season with the 2nd annual Denver Backyard Bang Rail Jam. A grassroots snowboarding competition, the Salomon Backyard Bang will be held Saturday, November 20, 2010, from 11 am to 4 pm, at The Art Institute of Colorado at 1200 Lincoln Street in downtown Denver.

Hosted by Salomon Snowboards and The Art Institute of Colorado, the homegrown rail jam brings several of the best up and coming pros and amateurs from the Rocky Mountain region and beyond back to compete in the heart of Denver’s Golden Triangle District.

Backyard Bang will welcome appearances by Salomon pro riders Jed Anderson, Chris Grenier, Louif Paradis, Bode Merrill, Desiree Melancon, Scotty Arnold and more. The competition kicks off with practice at 12:15 pm, followed by the first of three heats at 1:00 pm. The second and third heats begin at 1:25 pm and 1:50 pm, with finals following at 2:20 pm. Awards will be presented at 4:00 pm.

Over 30 distinctively-designed snowboards created by Art Institute of Colorado students, alumni and prospective students will be on display in the John Jellico Gallery at The Art Institute of Colorado from November 10-19, 2010. The collection of snowboards will be auctioned during the Backyard Bang Rail Jam on Saturday, November 20, 2010. All proceeds benefit The Education Foundation and support student scholarships.

The event is open to the public at no charge and will include food, refreshments and a wide range of entertainment options. Interactive games, giveaways, autograph signing with pro riders and a DJ booth will all be a part of the day’s activities.
