Volcom's North American Wild in the Parks Tour 2011The 14th and final stop of Volcom Stone's 2011 North American Wild in the Parks tour wrapped up at the Santa Clarita skate park in California this past weekend. The skate competition offered three divisions: Under 14, 15 and over, and Pro-Am. The 3rd annual Volcom event turned out to be a perfect day for skating. Kids were killing it! The Santa Clarita skate park is a combination of sweet transitions and street. Apparently the 14 and under groms were going for it, impressing the older shred heads, "they were clearly intent on leaving permanent scars," reported Volcom.
The top qualifiers from the 14 and under group were Rene Serrano and Jeremiah Neumann.These kids were amazing the judges and everyone watching with their arial heelflips, f/s 360s, kickflips up the step-up and even a hard flip down the 6-set. Rene Serrano nailed nearly 90% of his attempts! In the end, Jeremiah Neumann took first with Rene Serrano only a half point behind him, placing second.
The 15 and over crew was just as impressive. These bros were not messing around. They were out for blood, making it challenging for the judges to determine winners. Kevin White, Sean Imes and Jared Cleland battled it out with Caedyn Curto and Sam Bauer throughout the three zones of the skate comp. Coming out on top was Jared Cleland in first and Caedyn Curto in second, with Sam Bauer placing third.
The Pro-Am's were the last division to skate and they heated shiz up! These guys ripped around throwing down crowd pleasing technical tricks. Brendon Villanueva skated solid form start to finish, as did Tyler Pacheco. Matt Lemond and Jordan Maxham didn't disappoint and kept the competition level high. The final scores came down to Brendon Villanueva who took first, Jordan Maxham in a close second and Matt Lemond taking third.
